[KubeCon Day 2] We have arrived at KubeCon North America
My name is Taninari, and I work in the Service Reliability Group (SRG) of the Media Headquarters.
#SRG(Service Reliability Group) mainly provides cross-sectional support for the infrastructure of our media services, improving existing services, launching new ones, contributing to OSS, etc.
This article is a travelogue about how I managed to arrive safely at KubeCon after some trouble the day before.
We will be posting articles about upcoming events throughout KubeCon, so please keep checking back.

Until departure from Haneda Airport
In my previous article, I wrote about how the plane was unable to take off due to equipment problems and how we tried again the next day.
I finally arrived today, so I thought I'd blog about my journey.
Since I booked a hotel directly connected to Haneda Airport, I started my trip from Haneda Airport's Terminal 3.
For lunch, I decided to have some ramen, which is expensive when traveling abroad and which I expect will taste inferior to what I get in Japan, before checking in for departure.
I was able to complete the process up to security without any problems using the QR code displayed on the app, but when I tried to go through the gate at security, I got an error (different boarding date).
The attendant explained that I would not be able to pass through unless I got a paper ticket.
(I was able to check in my luggage and register for FaceExpress without any problems...)
By the way, some of the people who went with me had their flight ticket information from before the rescheduling still on their flight when they checked in their luggage, which caused an error.
I was issued a paper ticket, registered for FaceExpress again, and was able to pass through security without any problems.
However, I was still worried about whether there would be any problems with the luggage I checked in here without using a paper ticket.
I assumed it would be okay since the ticket I was using was for yesterday's flight and the destination was the same, but I was still worried, so I asked my colleague to check if my luggage was in the same place as my AirTag.
I confirmed that my luggage was in the same place, so I decided it would be okay.
It was the same plane and the same time as yesterday, so it felt like I was watching yesterday and I was very worried about whether we would actually be able to fly, but we were able to take off without any problems.
Arrived at Seattle Tacoma Airport in transit
I arrived at Seattle-Tacoma Airport, which I would be using for transit, roughly on time, and went to the baggage claim area to wait for my luggage.
I was worried, so I checked the location with AirTag, and it showed that it was at Haneda Airport Terminal 3 10 hours ago.
I wondered if it hadn't been updated, so I asked about three other colleagues to check the location, and it showed that it was at the Seattle airport...
Frantically, I tried various things, including restarting the app, but the location wasn't updated, so I anxiously waited for my package to arrive.
About 20 minutes? I kept checking the location app, and then it said I'd arrived in Seattle about 35 minutes ago, and I was able to pick up my luggage without a hitch.
(I don't really know why my AirTag was so slow to update.)

After collecting your luggage, proceed to immigration.
I went through a different immigration counter, but I could hear an immigration inspector speaking very fluent Japanese from the one next to me.
The next boarding process was completed without any issues.
Since we were traveling as a group, we allowed ourselves plenty of time for the transit, about four hours, because if we encountered any problems with baggage collection or immigration, we might not be able to catch the next flight.
(I've heard of cases where people had to make the transit time 2 hours and rush through the airport, so it's best to give yourself plenty of time if you're going through immigration or there's a chance of an accident.)

Arrived safely in Salt Lake City!
We boarded a plane to our final destination, Salt Lake City, and arrived safely there.
Take an Uber to the hotel and check in.

For dinner, we went to the first KFC store (there are various theories about where this was).
I haven't been to KFC much in Japan, but it was very tasty and had a nice spice to it.
Below are some photos taken on site.

The real thing starts tomorrow!
Starting tomorrow, I hope to be able to post blog posts about information about the sessions I attended at the KubeCon conference.
(There will be a party after the session, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to post a blog on the day, but I'll try my best.)
