KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America
KubeCon + CloudNativeCon is a conference hosted by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). It brings together cloud-native practitioners and open-source software communities from around the world.
This year, it will be held in Atlanta, USA, from November 10th to November 13th.
Speaking of KubeCon...
Last year at KubeCon, a member from SRG missed the first day of the event due to equipment problems that prevented their flight from taking off.
This year, we were determined to make up for it and were fully prepared.
An anxious night before departure
I didn't attend KubeCon last year, but I heard from a senior student that "the planes were canceled." Perhaps because of that, I decided to depart on Friday night this year and proceeded with my preparations.
The day before departure, I had checked in online and was ready to go to the airport when I received a notification.
"Our flight is delayed by 1 hour and 40 minutes."
To make matters worse, we received an alarming email from the CNCF stating that "the number of flights at the airport may be reduced due to instructions from the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration)."
The other members of our group investigated and found that the impact would mainly be on domestic flights, and international flights seemed to be fine.
However, given the troubles last year and the FAA's announcement, the thought of "what if the flight is cancelled?" crossed our minds.
Now, off to the venue!
On the day of departure, I went to the airport early and ate with the other members. After checking in our luggage, we had our "last Japanese meal" to fill our stomachs. There was a delay, but no cancellation notice. What a relief.

After completing immigration procedures and other procedures, I arrived at the boarding gate a little after the scheduled boarding time, but boarding hadn't started yet.
I felt a moment of anxiety, but after waiting, boarding began shortly after, and I was able to board the plane safely. However, since last year my flight was canceled after I had already boarded, I couldn't let my guard down yet.

As I sat down, wondering what would happen next, the doors closed and the plane slowly began to move!
As a result, we departed for Atlanta almost on time. During the long flight, I enjoyed delicious in-flight meals such as curry and yakisoba.
Safely arrived in Atlanta
The flight continued smoothly, and we finally arrived in Atlanta, the host city of KubeCon!
After clearing immigration and heading towards the city center, I saw advertisements on the streetlights, and it really hit me that I was finally at KubeCon. This is my first time at an overseas tech conference, and the sight of advertisements everywhere in the city was a novel experience. The scale is something I don't often see at domestic conferences, and it made me even more excited!

We arrived at the hotel late Friday night. We looked for a place to eat dinner, but there were hardly any restaurants open, so we headed to a nearby fast-food restaurant.
There, we each ordered a dish of French fries with plenty of sauce, but the taste varied wildly. Mine was delicious, but some dishes were quite sour. I really felt like I was in America... We spent the weekend sightseeing and preparing for the conference starting tomorrow.

In conclusion
I plan to write articles about as much of the KubeCon, which starts tomorrow, as possible. Please check them out!
