We held an AWS GameDay for the CyberAgent Group!
Introduction
#SRG(Service Reliability Group) mainly provides cross-sectional support for the infrastructure of our media services, improving existing services, launching new ones, contributing to OSS, etc.
This article is a report on the AWS GameDay, which was held for the first time in four years for CyberAgent group companies. Although this is a report on the event, we will not touch on the content of the AWS GameDay competition. (Because we cannot write about it so that future participants can enjoy it.) A total of more than 130 engineers from 23 business divisions and group companies participated in this event.
What is AWS GameDay?
AWS GameDayis held annually at AWS re:Invent.Team BattlesThis is a game-style event where participants compete against each other on a score. This time, 33 teams of 3-4 people competed against each other on a score. AWS GameDay is different from ordinary classrooms and hands-on classes, in that participants compete against each other on a real environment built on AWS.DevOpsThis will be a practical workshop. In order to get a good score, team members need toCommunication and cooperationAnd above all,Have funis!
AWS GameDay
On the day, we followed this timetable.
13:00 - 13:15 | Opening |
13:15 - 14:00 | Introduction |
14:00 - 17:00 | AWS GameDay |
17:15 - 17:45 | Award |
17:45 - 18:00 | Closing |
18:00 - | Networking Party |

During the introduction, there was an explanation of the competition and a speech from the president of Unicorn Rental to new employees.

As soon as the explanation was finished, the competition started. For the participants, the 3 hours must have flown by in a flash! Just like the last time, it was a close race with the top rankings changing hands until the very end, so it was very exciting!
At the awards ceremony, the 1st to 3rd place winning teams were announced and presented with their prizes. Just like last time, the winner was Miyukki_funny_friends! (They brought monitors with them, and were more serious about their preparations than the other teams.)
Although it didn't affect the final rankings, current AWS employees also participated this time, which made the event even more exciting!

Conclusion
I am truly grateful to AWS for their cooperation in making this event possible, and to everyone who participated. Personally, I was happy that we were able to hold the event offline, which we were unable to do last time, even though it has been four years since the last event. At the social gathering after the event,"I want to participate again, so please do it again next year," "It was fun," "It made me want to study more about AWS," "I want to encourage others to participate," "It was good to be able to interact with people I don't normally have contact with."We received many comments like these, so we believe we were able to create an event that met with high participant satisfaction.
