We held an AWS GameDay for the CyberAgent Group!
Introduction
#SRG(Service Reliability Group) is a group that mainly provides cross-sectional support for the infrastructure of our media services, improving existing services, launching new ones, and contributing to OSS.
This article is a report on the first AWS GameDay in four years, held for CyberAgent group companies. Although this is an event report, we will not cover the details of the AWS GameDay competition (as we would not be able to write about it in order to ensure that future participants can enjoy it). A total of more than 130 engineers from 23 business divisions and group companies participated in this event.
What is AWS GameDay?
AWS GameDayis held every year at AWS re:Invent.Team BattleThis is a game-style event where participants compete for scores. This time, 33 teams of 3-4 people competed for scores. AWS GameDay is different from ordinary classrooms or hands-on sessions, as participants compete in a real environment built on AWS.DevOpsIn order to get a good score, team members need toCommunication and cooperationAnd above all,Having fun is importantis!
AWS GameDay
The schedule for the day was as follows:
13:00 - 13:15 | Opening |
13:15 - 14:00 | Introduction |
14:00 - 17:00 | AWS GameDay |
17:15 - 17:45 | Award |
17:45 - 18:00 | Closing |
18:00 - | Networking Party |

The introduction included an explanation of the competition and a speech from the president of Unicorn Rental to the new employees.

As soon as the explanation was finished, the competition began. For the participants, the three hours must have flown by in a flash! Just like last time, this was also a close race with the top positions changing until the very end, so it was a very exciting event!
During the awards ceremony, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams were announced and presented with their prizes. Following on from last year, the winner was Miyukki_funny_friends! (Compared to the other teams, they were incredibly serious about their preparations, even bringing monitors with them.)
Although it didn't affect the final rankings, current AWS employees also participated, which made the event even more exciting!

Conclusion
I am truly grateful to AWS for their cooperation in making this event a reality, and to everyone who participated. Personally, I was happy that we were able to hold the event offline, something we weren't able to do last time, even though it's been four years since the last event. At the social gathering after the event,"I'd like to participate again, so please do it again next year," "It was fun," "It made me want to study more about AWS," "I would like to encourage others to participate," "It was great to be able to interact with people I don't normally have contact with."We received many comments like these, so we believe that the event was very satisfying for participants.
